History

The Southern Textile Heritage Corridor is a concept first proposed by the representatives of the City of Valley, Alabama at the April 22-23, 2005 Southwide Cotton Mill Reunion & Convention in Kannapolis,NC.  The concept was adopted and approved by the entire conference.  It has now evolved into what is presented on this website.

The Corridor concept hopes to tie together the numerous local and state initiatives aimed at preserving the history and life stories of these very special workers and their communities.

We invite everyone to follow the Corridor, visit the unique history, join the preservation effort and learn of our love and pride in our special heritage.
