“Ties That Bind” Textile Exhibit – Gaston Co. Museum

Tours: Open Tues – Fri 10 am – 5 pm and Saturday 1 pm – 5 pm. Docents are available to enhance the visitor experience and the museum shop is open for the purchase of mementoes and books.

Museum is located in a very old historic hotel – (Hoffman Hotel
Building) and the Daniel Stowe Carriage House is located behind the
museum on the same property. The museum has a permanent textile
exhibit – “The Ties That Bind” – related to the extensive influence the textile industry had in the making of modern Gaston County. In fact a primary motivation for the creation of this museum was the desire for the textile exhibit.

Site History:
Originally built as the Hoffman Hotel at Gaston County’s seat in 1853.

Directions to Site:
On I- 85 at Gastonia, NC – take exit 17 for US – 321 Notth. At the end of the exit turn left onto US-321 N/N. Chester Street – Proceed 1.9 miles and exit to N. Carolina 275 E/N Carolina 279 E/West
Trade Street. The museum is approximately 0.9 miles. Turn right on
S. Holland Street. The museum is one block at the corner of S. Holland and E. Main Streets. [Approximately 3 miles from I -85].
